At Birth to Earth, we are passionate about our earth and want you to be too. We believe that by planting your child’s placenta under a tree, you will make your child connect with nature giving them a greater respect for nature. Birth to Earth is the simple, no mess, no fuss solution to taking home your placenta. Packed at birth, the capsule goes directly from your freezer into the ground, all components breaking down to a natural humus with no toxic residue.
The idea:
Liesje Bradley with husband Conan have three children and is also a free lance retail visual merchandiser. She came up with the idea for the “Birth to Earth” Placenta Planting Pack early one morning when there was no room left in the freezer for a meal she had cooked.
“Over a year on my daughter’s placenta was still in the freezer in its bulky plastic pack, I kept hesitating on planting it as I knew I had to defrost it and cut it from the plastic bags before planting it. One day driving to the airport I was cursing myself for bringing it home with vivid memories of my niece’s planting being a disaster. Then it dawned on me “Why aren’t they packed into biodegradable packs that can be put straight in the ground?” and so it began.
Michelle (Liesje’s cousin) and Rick on hearing the idea loved it and were on board from the start, “We were so excited about the product and the benefits to other families and our planet and we really wanted to be involved.”
Rick (Michelle’s husband) has an architectural background so his analytical skills and unbridled energy has been a great force to achieving the launch of the Birth to Earth products. Michelle has a business management and finance background which brings another dimension to the team and together Rick and Michelle have 4 children.
To keep the momentum of Birth to Earth going, many meetings would start at 9pm and end in the wee hours of the morning while the children slept. Between us we have juggled the 7 kids with school pick ups, drop offs, sport, meals, doctors and our usual jobs.
